I’m a firm believer in looking at the positive in life right now – so much doom and gloom (I’m not belittling it of course) but I think that now, more than ever, we need to see and experience the joy in life not just the stats and pain we’re all going through. Covid-19 is all we talk about and think about – and rightly so – it’s truly scary times in the UK and the world at large – but we at Veritas have decided to try and see the upside to life.
We now have twice daily Google Duo calls – as much to chat and see faces as it is to talk about the business. The simple act of human contact is so important to all of us – even if it is via Video Conference. Its something we’re adjusting to quite quickly – I’m sure many other companies are experiencing the same.
Its great to see what other people are doing around the world, OAP’s in care homes playing real life Hungry Hippos in wheelchairs (genius), local pubs to me are running virtual pub quizzes and darts evenings etc. It’s amazing and genuinely heart-warming to see NHS volunteers are signing up in their 100’s of thousands overnight to help out with anything from delivering prescriptions or even just phoning isolated people – to sign up https://www.goodsamapp.org/nhsvolunteerresponders. Its brilliant to see people coming together to help one another.
We’re not going to be posting too much about work during the lockdown – we are working and on hand if anyone wants to talk (even if its just to share the latest best binge-watch on Netflix – I’m halfway through Altered Carbon so any recommendations are well received). But what we’re going to try and do is find some happy news or positive articles to help us all through the lockdown and out in to the light at the end of the tunnel.
